Our very own Organic Garden

Continuing with September’s Green theme, let’s take a look at our very own Organic Garden in the parking lot, just outside Nedbank. The Constantia Village is the first mainstream shopping centre to have its own on-site edible garden project!

Managed by Urban Harvest, our Organic Garden has been growing since 2013. The purpose of the garden is to provide fresh organic food to beneficiaries such as The Haven Night Shelter in Wynberg and to inspire shoppers to start their own food gardens.

Sprouting from the rich soil, abundant winter rain and gentle sunshine — veggies full of goodness are donated to The Haven Night Shelter Wynberg on a monthly basis! We harvest fresh leeks, spinach, eggplant and a variety of lettuces and deliver it to “the clients” of The Haven.

You, the shopper, can get involved by donating nursery items — anything from a spade to seeds will make a difference! There will be a box available at the Pick n Pay entrance from 26 September – 2 October where you can drop off gardening goodies. These items will be used in our Organic Garden as well as other community projects in Cape Town.

We appreciate your nurturing hearts!
